Description
Del Tin Roman Gladius-HispaniensisI am the original owner of this blade which has never been used and was stored in a non-smoking home. This sword is no longer available from the manufacturer. I have kept the sword clean and periodically coated it with Renaissance Wax to protect the steel. This blade is light, quick in the hand, and very strong.
I will pay for the shipping and insurance costs. Feel free to message me with any questions, I will respond as quickly as I can. Thanks for looking!
In the early days of the Roman republic, the Romans were armed in the Greek style, their primary sword being a form of the Greek Xiphos. After numerous campaigns in the Iberian peninsula, the Romans adopted one of the short swords they encountered there as their primary weapon. The Gladius Hispaniensis or ”Spanish Sword” is the ancestor of the more familiar Roman Gladius. The Del Tin Roman Gladius Hispaniensis dates from the 3rd century BC and features a leaf shaped blade and cast steel hilt. The beveled blade is made of well tempered Chrome-Vanadium steel with a hardness of 50HRC and is PEENED to the pommel for extreme durability.
