    A "Guingate" Sword with Scabbard by Windlass Steelcrafts
    "Maximillian was a great lover of the implements of war, actually designing some armor that has since been named for him. But more impressively, he was never one to hold back when there was a good fight going on.  In 1479, King Louis invaded the Netherlands, where he was met by the Emperor Maximilian. In the short, bloody battle, the French cavalry defeated the Imperial Horses, but in the end the field was held by the Flemish infantry, with the emperor fighting on foot in their midst."
    "In honor of the battle, this sword was named this sword the "Guingate."  The original was found at auction and photographed to replicate it.  The blade is hand-forged of high carbon steel by Windlass Steelcrafts, employing the high center ridge of the original.  So strengthened, this blade is easily capable of either cutting or thrusting with equal efficiency.  The pommel and guard are beautifully finished brass, gorgeously setting off the camel bone grip."
    The blade is 33-1/4 inches long.  The overall length is 40 inches. It weighs 2 lbs.
    The sword is in the original shipping box and appears to have never been handled or displayed. It remains in as-new condition.
