AN UNUSUAL AND GREAT FRENCH GIFT IDEA...
This was THE warm Winter coat to have in France from the 1920 until 1960's years before the arrival of the
synthetic clothes...
Its name,  "CANADIENNE", lets us think how much warm and comfortable it was !
Always made in a sturdy brown canvas, waterproof and easy to deal with, it would carry a golden brown real sheep fur collar and was lined inside, until the waist, with natural white sheep wool/skin. The most luxury ones were made of leather, these were Sunday Canadiennes !
They would have also typical detailing : vertical front pockets, leather piping and half-ball shaped buttons.
Worn in any circumstancies, everyday life in Winter, travelling, hunting,  working outside... this timeless mythic coat has been widely pictured in movies about WWII years.
The one on auction would have had a very busy life and comes to you is as found used condition reflected in price. It

Vintage antique with some wear to the collar and leather detailing, some tear to the inside striped lining, no belt and 2 missing buttons to the sleeves, all shown on my pictures
