This fine blade is probably the finest of all Windlass swords. It's balance and handling are superb. It's a joy to wield. At just over 2 lbs, it's actually pretty close in weight to originals, albeit with less distal taper. It has the standard double fuller; a wide one and a narrow one. The blade is strong and flexible. I had it sharpened, but it's not quite shaving sharp. The fine steel scabbard is in good condition. The blade is marked Ames, Chicopee, MA 1862. The tang is actually peened, rather than screw on. Overall, it's a decently historically accurate reproduction, and quite durable. I got it intending to use it for Civil War impressions. Alas, for Trans Mississippi Confederate, it's really not accurate. The 1840 cavalry saber would have been a much better choice, so I am selling this.
